Part 1
The tastes of salt and sugar are totally inverse, but both taste amazing in a cake. The cake resemble artists in this article. I am going to explore how sugar and salt are likened to the roles played by management and promotion to raise the value of musicians.
The first role is that of the musician. Without doing enough there is nothing salt and sugar will do. The most important ingredient in the success of a musical career is the musician’s talent. Through passion, practice and performance the musician becomes a product. So the role of the musician is unleashing talent endowed in him or her.
Management somehow plays a bitter role. It seasons the career of a musician by instilling discipline to the business of an artist. The business face of a musician is designed by management. The turning of raw talent from home and making it a talking point in the market is an effort of management. The principles required are usually sour, there has to be a lot of rules to follow.
Promoters on the other hand bring sweetness to all the work the artist and management would have done. Promoters take artists to greater platforms and events that bring money and fame. Promoters change the welfare of an artist by advance payments basing on potential and talent with a business intention to return the money.
The article will be continued in series weekly
