Ginatsiya Nyanhete Aka, Jah Lemmy is a talented and humble Afro Trade Musician born 36 years ago in Mbizo. He is of Korekore origin, Jah Lemmy comes from Guruve.
He started his career when he was about 10 years old, by mimicking the late Oliver Mutukudzi as well as the Blacks Unlimited Boss, Thomas Mapfumo. Jah Lemmy’ parents did not pay attention as they considered it as noise, they discouraged him initially. Later on they realised it was really his talent and they started giving him support.
In 2008 a well wisher donated a set of Marimba to Jah Lemmy after realising his passion in music. Jah Lemmy' friends came through to learn how to play marimba, this prompted the formation of Guruve Marimba Arts Ensemble.
Jah Lemmy took leadership of the band. He managed to take the band to Chibuku road to fame twice, the band came second in the first competition out of the ten competitors that represent the 10 provinces of our country. The band finally scooped the number one position. This led to the band’s meeting with Dr Oliver Mtukudzi who applauded the choice of the traditional music genre.
Jah Lemmy in 2013 consulted the late Oliver Mtukudzi MHSRIP on the path to follow. Jah Lemmy and his band were enrolled for the Masanga Bodo Production. Dr Mtukudzi took the band through a series of rehearsals. This motivated Jah Lemmy to record his first Album in 2017.
Jah Lemmy’ vision is to change people’s lives through his music. He also wishes to preserve the traditional musical instruments and the music as well.
Jah Lemmy appreciates that music is a thorny journey with obstacles too, he is patiently taking each day as it comes. He is prepared to endure to stardom. Jah Lemmy is producing music and videos his fans are so pleased with, his fan base is increasing locally and internationally.
Jah Lemmy is a committed family man and is married to one wife. Besides music he also a manufacturers traditional musical instruments marimba, mbira and traditional drums. Jah Lemmy is also a fashion designer of exclusive traditional costumes.
