Ammi Jamanda has been keeping this song Gata Rinoshura Materu for more than 2 years in her song books if I remember very well. I will not go too much into this since the song is now available. The demand by music fans is the need to attach the melodies into their lives. Ammi has made it possible to her legion of fans who have always supported her each time she plays with her band.
Ammi joined the competitive live club circuit at a very young age but she soldiered on without much attention from important stakeholders. Her previous album faired well though the poor music distribution channels in our country failed her to reach out to the whole country. Music distribution is very important to upcoming musicians as this makes them known. The radio usually plays already popular tunes and this affects the new entries because few requests affect routine airplay.
Gata Rinoshura Materu is a song that urges people to persevere in difficult situations as they say the darkest hour is before dawn. The lyrics were carefully scripted to flow and catch the imaginations of our society. I am very sure the people of Zimbabwe will relate very well with this song as they have endured hardships for over 2 decades. The instrumentation is truly local and traditional though contemporary fused.
Ammi's creativity was bound within our own Zimbabwean beat which is our pride. In this era when many’ creativity is being diverted to internet downloaded beats, I really appreciate Ammi Jamanda for selling our own culture. The song's melody is going to diffuse easily into the people who so direly need encouragement to keep working hard.
As Zimbabweans we have always worked enough to match our world counterparts in entertaining the multitudes of the world populace. Ammi’s vocal is proving competitive enough to follow our forerunners; Mbuya Stella Chiweshe, the Late Oliver Mtukudzi and Thomas Mapfumo. Our Zimbabwean beat was represented before at high profile festivals including Womad. I urge Ammi Jamanda on to move in the shoes of our great musicians who are aging while some have since left us to join our ancestors.
Congratulations to Ammi Jamanda for being Zimbabwean. I rate the song 7/10. Keep up your effort success is imminent. View it on YouTube.
